Accessibility is about all humans being able to communicate and interact with technology. Regardless if our disability is permanent, temporary, or situational, that’s why automated solutions like overlays fail. They simply cannot understand our individual needs and convey the context and purpose humans rely on. The only solution is cultural adaptation and proper technical remediation.
Building An A11Y Team
Building a team to comply with accessibility standards can be daunting, and cost organizations hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. For most, this is unfeasible. Outsourcing your accessibility operations makes the most sense. At a minimum, the following roles need to be filled:

Chief Accessibility Officer
At some level in the organizational chart, someone needs to be responsible for accessibility across the enterprise.

Individuals will be required to test and report back findings, utilizing a variety of tools and techniques.

Developers need training and guidance on the proper fixes to achieve conformity. Sadly, most developers are not aware of or not trained on these standards.

Diagnose
Our team will work with your website, application, or mobile app to test and diagnose what issues exist.

Remediate
Remediation is carried out by your team, with ours alongside them. You use our findings, receive training, and work with our accessibility specialists to achieve conformity. We stay in an advisory role rather than taking over your codebase.

Confirm
Post-remediation, further testing is required to confirm all issues were corrected and are correctly working with assistive technology.

Document
Depending on what is needed, we will generate accessibility statements, VPATs, or other documentation to demonstrate conformance.

Monitor & Improve
Accessibility never ends. We can add scheduled monitoring so regressions surface within days rather than at the next audit, keep your team’s training current, and stay retained as your accessibility team for as long as you need one.
